I''m a co-chair for a holiday light show project (RotaryMakingSpiritsBright.org) in Sheboygan, WI. This is a non-profit group of volunteers that put this together to collect food for the local area food pantries. We''ve been averaging about 45,000 visitors for the last two years. This is our 3rd year and our plans for this year include building a "drive through igloo" where donations will be collected.
We originally we thought about using PVC for the structure until I ran across your site. I used to live in a dome home and I know how strong they are.
Our problem is this will need to be built on site and then taken down after the show. That''s why I like the panelized construction. Our criteria requires a minimum 12'' wide opening on opposite sides of the dome with an opening height minimum of 13''6" to allow buses to pass through A 30 to 40 foot diameter dome will probably be the size we would need along with two small extensions for the "doors" to enter and exit like one would see on an igloo.
I watched several of your videos and like how modular they are but not sure if we should go with the pentagon or trapezoidal design. I think the pentagon would look very good and that is the reason for this post as I would like some feedback with the understanding this would be built off-site and assembled/disassembled on-site and will need to be stored annually. Any feedback would be much appreciated and we would get seek a local sponsor to purchase the plans.
Best regards,
Greg
