I found this email in my inbox the other day and just had to post it on the site. This demonstrates some of the principles of imaginative design using whatever material is to hand... Fantastic!
Paul, good morning.
I''m Igor from Ekaterinburg, Russia and after careful investigation of your excellent geo-dome.co.uk I''ve assembled 8'' 3V dome from empty milk bottles. All job was done in one April Saturday but the great problem was to gather plastic bottles, my mom, brother''s family and my friends donations were irreplaceable.
Yes of cause my personal milk consumption was enormous last months as well.
The procedure was simple as 1-2-3: I''ve cut the bottle bottoms and inserted one bottle into another to get A, B, C strut dimensions. Bottoms where used as 5-6 star hubs with screw on stoppers then struts where congregated with hubs.
Important issue: Dome should be anchored by pair strings to prevent wind movement.
Hope my construction will entertain all Bucky Fuller worshippers.
