Hi
I am building a 3v dome 7.2 m diameter and need have an opening across of approx 5 m to use for s serving hatch. Is it as simple as removing x amount of poles or will it need a frame around the opening or some uprights left in.
Thanks

Hi Dougal, I would say that you would definitely need some extra support, 5m is quite a big opening. I would put at least 2 supports down to the ground across an opening of that size.

Hi thanks for the reply. I have thought about dropping a vertical pole from the centre then 5 or 6 poles attached to this vertical pole then spanning to the wall, back, front and sides just above the line of the opening. This is as so to leave the opening free of obscuring poles

I think that would definitely help, you could add more support if you needed to later as well. If you made it like an umbrella stress would be more evenly distributed away from the opening to the opposite side. Good luck with it anyway.
