Im in the process of building a 5v 21m diameter geodesic dome. does anyone know what kind of certificates I need to make it hirable, like a structural engineer or someone like that. I I have contacted a few structural engineers and they done think they can do it and they say they don''t know who I should call!

A structural engineer should be able to work out the calculations for safety requirements. You will need to provide the exact specifications of the timber/steel or whatever else your dome is made of. All the materials must also be up to fire regulation standards, no PVC, Nylon, polythene unless it is treated. I would suggest contacting your local council or heath and safety officer to find out what requirements you will need to fulfil.

I have been looking into getting a structural engineer, is going to cost about £3k and will take 3 days of work for each dome, does this seem right? We have 3 domes to build and is going to put us way over budget, does anyone know a structural engineer that has done this type of work before?

That sounds crazy to me, I think you should try another firm.
If you're building three domes you only need structural calculations for one (if they are all the same) once you've done structural calculations you should be ableto build as many as you want.
If you supply the engineer with exact dimentions and materials used it's not that complicated.
All I can say is keep looking, you'll find someone in the end.
Do you have drawings of your domes?

Im building 3 different sizes. I dont have any drawings, Just using the ones off desertdomes.com for my reference. Is they a program I can get for mac that I will be able to do a scale drawing? I have spoke to several engineers, and £90 + vat per hour is the cheapest I have found so far.

You can get CAD drawing programs for mac and I can certainly give you a basic scale drawing for you to work with but you could pay a few hundred pounds for the software. Google sketch up may be something you could look at (it's free)
What frequency domes are you building? I could possibly provide you with a basic scale drawing.

Im building a 5v 18m, a 3v 10m and a 2v 7.3m. Is it quite simple to draw all the domes using the software? is they any software you would recommend to a beginner?
