Hi there, I have seen domes using small sections of large diameter water main pipe..., up to 2" wide, with holes drilled into the surface of the pipe, so letting in the poles at the correct angles around the external surface of the pipe.
Does anyone have some info on this? Been searching for some pictures, though no joy....

Hi Wind
pvc tends to weaken when heated by the sun and gets brittle in the cold.
Domes can be built this way but for cost versus longevity you`d be better off using a more stable material like timber, aluminium or steel.

that's very interesting. i would be very keen to know if using cross sections of a tree could work in the same way. that could be really beautiful. what do you think about using ash wood instead colin?
