| Hi, I want to buy hubs for a hub and strut style dome, however, I can only find expensive whole dome kits. Anyone know where to buy *just* the hubs? | |

| Hi It kinda depends where you are located? If USA then yes..if UK then no. Hubs will still cost a fortune considering they`re only schedule 40 or 80 pvc usually. Aluminium or steel is stronger but even more expensive ;) What frequency and size of dome do you plan to build? | |

| It is difficult trying to find hubs but I don't think that they should be that hard to make. I think that there are only four different types of hub required to make a 3v geodesic dome, you would need roughly 46 in total. If you let us know what size and frequency you want to build I'm sure we can help out. | |

| I'm just building a first model with 1"x2" struts. Already cut them to equal lengths. What sort of model connector can I improvise? Is there a bit of common hardware? | |

| Hi socratix Equal lengths will work for a 1v dome..you`ll need 25 struts.You`ll need 2 different lengths for a 2v (check out the calculator page on the site). Improvised hubs for a model can be as simple as getting a roll of "builders band" (aka,metal strip with holes punched in it)and fixing short lengths of it to the inside of the struts with screws. Bend it at the appropriate angle and then fix them together with a bolt at the vertex. For a neat finish cut some softwood discs using a holesaw and put them on the bolts. They will fill in the void at the hubs and add strength. | |

| Has anyone had experience with Starplate hubs? I'm looking to buy a set, but await the company in the US to confirm postage. We're going to build a greenhouse with 2x2 timber to fit on an existing 6' concrete base. | |
